humiliation in a blog

i'm adding a thursday post to help motivate me
(so i can embarrass myself completely)
and hopefully work a little harder
as i train for my 5k
and the larson cup triathlon,
possibly in june.

i'm not allowing comments because i don't want any.
i'm embarrassed enough as it is, and this is for me.

i haven't been running in a very long time
(months)
so don't judge me.
i know i'm slow.

saturday: i only had 30 minutes to run so i had to just fit in what i could in that time period. it was my first attempt at running in a long time....i ran 1.8 miles in 30 minutes. please don't laugh.

monday: i kept 1.8 miles as my mark (odd, i know, but it's what i hit at 30 minutes the first day, so it's what i chose). i ran 1.8 miles in 27 minutes.

tuesday and wednesday: back was hurting, dave was out of town, i wimped out.

thursday:
my back was feeling a bit better. i ran 1.8 miles in 24:47.

pounds lost: +5. that's right, i've gained five pounds since saturday. no idea how that's possible, as i've started eating waaaay less in the past month (no eating past 7:30, drinking 64 ounces of water a day, one helping of dinner, etc.). i suppose it could be that i weighed myself in the morning on saturday and at night on thursday.
oh well. at least i'm getting a little faster.

humiliation in a blog part III

monday: ran 2.5 miles in 31:43.

tuesday & wednesday: dave was out of town

thursday: not feelin' it, biked 6 miles in 18 minutes

friday: family party

saturday: ran outside today! went 3 miles in...i have no idea how long. i just realized i forgot to time myself. i ran for the first 2 miles then had to walk off and on for the third. my friends tori and alison were on FIRE and ran like the wind. i was so impressed with them. tori is doing a half marathon in may and alison just started running a few weeks ago (tori is training her) and they were awesome. it was fun to run outside and have a destination, plus it was pretty and windy so i didn't get too hot.

pounds lost: +2.

one week to go. i just wanna get this thing overwith. how did you talk me into this, andrea?!

humiliation in a blog part II

monday: noah was sick all day...finally dragged myself to the clubhouse late but somebody was on my treadmill...rode the bike for 20 minutes, went 6.3 miles.

tuesday: 1.8 miles in 24:11. that's a 36 second improvement on my last running time. it was pure torture, i seriously thought i might die during this run. sheer agony. dave thinks it was because i didn't drink my 64 ounces of water today. i think it's because i'm tired.

wednesday: 1.8 miles in 24:37. i'm getting slower.

thursday and friday: very long, busy days, so i again wimped out.

saturday: 1.8 miles in 24:30. i'm speeding up a little.

pounds lost: +4. okay so i've lost one pound since last week, but that doesn't really help since i'd gained five since i first started. this is ridiculous

best songs to run to: pump it (radio edit) by the black eyed peas and beat it by fall out boy featuring john mayer. when these songs come on i force myself to go a mile an hour faster than i was (for the length of the song) and it's actually doable because these songs are so sweet. who knew john mayer could shred like that? seriously impressive.

what are your favorite songs to run to?

humiliation in a blog part IV: race day

...or not.

my face has been buried in this since 7:00 last night.
okay, not this one. this one is in chile. but one like unto it.

eating was a bad, bad idea.

i was only trying to prepare myself for the race.

i was sick earlier this week and haven't really been able to eat, but i thought since i was running a 5K today i'd better eat something....
i was wrong. oh so wrong.

i knew i would regret these posts. so they end today, with my ultimate humiliation.
after exposing my extreme running slowness to you all, i'm not even running the race today.

sad.

p.s. go give andrea some words of encouragement since
i had to back out and leave her all alone, running this race
by herself today. I'M SORRY, ANDREA. DON'T HATE ME!
