. : something i love : .

tiny ice from sonic.
i really like ice, especially the ice they give you when you're in labor.
but you're only in labor for so long, and then the ice is gone.
plus you can't really enjoy ice when you're in labor.
our icemaker doesn't have a filter, so the cubes always taste funny.
and we don't have the ice/water thing in our fridge door, so no "crush" feature.
so it's not tiny and chewable.
plus a few months ago, noah burned his hand really bad and i couldn't get him to hold anything cold or put it under water.
then i had a flash of brilliance: chop up ice with my rolling pin.
he put his hand in the bowl of ice (and then ate it) over and over...so his hand stayed cold.
the problem with that? now the first thing he says to me every morning is "ice? more?"
i'm sick of pounding ice cubes to make crushed ice for this kid.
so i asked dave to go to sonic and get us a bag of ice.
we poured it into our ice maker-catcher-thing....
genius.
sheer genius.
tiny ice.
$1.49 a bag at sonic.

I love the tiny ice too. What is it about those little balls of ice? I have a friend who says that she has everything she wants in life except an ice maker that makes little ice... Beth loves to chew ice too, she would go nuts if I ever introduced her to sonic ice, so far she doesn't know about it.

I also love tiny ice! We did the bag of ice into the ice maker once but forgot to tell the ice maker not to make more ice and we had such a mess! I can not tell you all the places we had ice and it took hours to clean up.

Ok, you're gonna have to tell me your secret. I bought sonic ice once and poured it into my ice cube holder just like you, but the next day it was just one big rock--all the ice melted a little and then froze together. How do you keep yours from doing that?

lynette, it did do that--i just use a knife and jab at it when i need a scoopful.

I love this too!!! They sell it at Macey's too. You just go back to the meat department, they have a huge ice machine back there.
