question of the week:

who are you?
*************

i put up a different question today but when my sister ellen said it was sad (and i expected her to be exactly the opposite), i decided to put up something a little more friendly.

check out my site meter from today:

i usually get a few international hits (mostly from lynette in chile) but this was all in a few minute time-span--what the hey? i tried visiting the referring url's but none of them worked, so i'm not sure how they found me. neat, huh?!

so...i've seen a few people do this before, and i'm jumping on the bandwagon.

i'd like to know who you are. i get an average of 66 hits per day on my blog, but not nearly that many comments. not that you have to comment to read my blog, far from it. i'm a proud blogstalker myself. but i get regular hits from iowa, oklahoma, north carolina, canada, and other places that i'm not sure i know anybody in. i get hits from cities in california, utah, and even new mexico that i've never even visited (and i'm sure i don't know anybody there). my cousin debbie lives in massachusetts, but not in four different cities, which i get hits from almost daily. i've changed the way i do comments for this post: you can even post anonymously. i'd just like to know who you are!

***********
you know who i am. now, who are you?

You know that I'm in love with "something" and you! And, for what it's worth, I thought that cat picture was sad, but then I laughed. What does that say about me?

My site meter is pretty much the same. This chick from Sweden keeps leaving comments and I'm like, "Who the heck are you?" Maybe we're distantly related since Engstrom is a Swedish name!

I am so glad that I don't have to tell you what I think about the cat picture!
I look at your blog at least 20 times a day. I guess I am afraid I am going to miss something. I love looking at everyone else’s blog too but rarely comments since I don't know any of them. You on the other hand I comment on all the time because hey, you know me and I think you like me and most of time get my sense of humor.

How do you do that? Find out where the people are from that look at your blog, I mean.

i just want to know what it was that you posted that was sad.

site meter, summer! click on my counter at the bottom right of my blog and it'll take you to the site, where you can get your own for free!

shannon, i guess i'll re-post it for you but i'm going to feel bad about it!

I am a total "Something" addict. I check my google reader first thing in the morning, and i'm always a little bummed when I have beat you to the punch and you haven't done your daily blog yet. I wish my blog was as interesting as yours. I actually blame you for how obsessive I have become about my blog and my blog stalking. haha. Thanks for giving me something to look forward to everyday!

Hmm I need to add your sitemeter to my blog so I can see where people are. I think though when i set up our blog I set it to semi private because I've tried to google us and nothing comes us..nothing even for topics i've blogged about like the Sacred Grove. Is that possible? to do a semi private one? or am i just nuts?

Emily said...

yep lex, you can set it so when someone googles you they can't find you. it's in "settings" and it just removes you from search engines.

We use StatCounter and it's awesome. Fun to see how people are finding you. As for the MA thing in different cities--we have relatives and friends there, too, and it does the same thing sometimes. I think Greg and Jessica show up as "Purchase, New York" -- very strange. So, sometimes it's the same person, but different IP address (though I'm not sure how/why). Is that 66 unique hits?

Emily said...

yeah

I think I need to do the "reader" thing since I check your site numerous times a day...

You're one of my favorites, if you didn't already know.

Brit, from the RR days. Always fun to reconnect. I did this a few weeks ago. It was interesting to see who come out of the dark, but I know there are still many whimps who chose to remain anon. Hope you are popular and get lots of comments. :)

I found your site from Emilie Ahern's site. I like your view on life, your honesty, and appreciate your spiritual posts as well. You had a post this week asking if you were cut out to be the mother of only boys - I have five boys (2 of my own, 3 stepsons) and although this was certainly not my plan, I am loving my life in my all-boy family. Boys LOVE their moms and they do get nicer. I am a girly-girl, not at all athletic, I do not like loud (teenage) music, I care a lot about outfits matching, etc., etc. so having only boys seemed like some type of cruel joke. However, I have come to appreciate the great feeling of looking at all these boys, who are brothers, and watching them watch out for eachother and knowing that I am responsible for teaching them to be better men. You will know just what to do and your boys will love and appreciate you and tell you things that they only tell their moms. Thanks for blogging and for cheering all of us up on a daily basis.

Hi Emily, I am your sister-in-law, Jessica. I am a bit of a stalker, I know, but I feel entitled because we're related! Anywho, I'm in the process of making my own blog, but I'm a little slow as far as that goes. Can I ask you if I don't know how to do something? You're such a pro at it. By the way, (I just tried to do btw, but couldn't get myself to do it!), what kind of camera is that one that you love? We're in the market for a new one and don't know where to start.

I'm the same way Jessica, I cannot do the initials for stuff or the smiley faces, I don't know why. Feel free to ask questions, i don't know if I can answer them but I'm sure I know someone who can (lynette, emilie...) can't wait to see your blog! my camera is a panasonic lumix something or other but has a leica lens, which is the lens canon cameras use, so it's a good one. someday i want a digital slr but until i have some time to learn how to use a camera and do photography, i'll use this little beauty. got it at costco.

thanks em, that's a real compliment coming from you! not that you don't give compliments, just that i feel intimidated sometimes by your sense of style and good writing skills!
