today is earth day. no, we are not doing anything for earth day. for me, it's just another day. but as i've become more aware of the things that are happening to our earth, i'm glad we have days like this. glad for me and glad for my kids to grow up in a world that's more aware. we had earth day when i was a kid too, but it didn't seem as big of a deal then as it is now.
i think it's awesome that being green has become so popular. i'm glad it's the "in" thing to do now. i've never been all that concerned about the environment. i don't litter, but i don't pick up trash at the park either. but now that it's the thing to do, there is so much information out there about it, and so many options when you are buying things. my friend em posted something a long time ago about the harmful things in plastics--something i had heard before but never concerned myself with. but now that i have kids, and they're eating and drinking from plastics, it's much more important to me. some of my favorite blogs have been focusing lately on living green--companies that have organic products, how to throw parties the green way, all that kind of stuff. and i think it's awesome. i learned the other day that if you simply use 1 less napkin a day, it makes a ginormous difference. we don't actually have paper napkins, but when we go to a restaurant we always end up using a thousand of them because of how messy our kids (and i) can be. so i've been trying to use less when we go out. i am not doing anything big for the environment. but i think awareness is important too. i would love to drive a hybrid car, if they weren't so darn expensive. my friend alison has one and it's so quiet and nice!
so no, i'm not planting a tree today. but i'm thinking green, and that's better than nothing.

I saw some scientists on foxnews, or glenn beck or something like that, that said global warming is a crock! But still good to be nice to the earth.
oooh, ellen, you have no idea the backlash this comment will unleash from some people.
I'm on the fence about global warming, but I think it's always nice to be kind to Mother Earth. She treats us so well, it's the least we can do.
Happy Earth Day!
i'm about the same, lynette!
Ah, Earth Day makes me so happy. It's nice that people are more concerned about taking care of what God has given us! And I'm all about using products that aren't harmful to my family.
yeah, just trying to stir the pot
i did that same thing on the foley blog this week--saying i would vote for david a. and brooke on AI (even though i don't watch it) just 'cause they're mormon. but mine worked better than yours!
well I do do that, what's wrong with that?
heh heh heh, nothing! but it sure stirred the pot!
