the new guy (he doesn't have a name yet)

new stuff doesn't stay "new" very long at our house.
we bought a new, nice, expensive dresser right after moving in with my parents.
dave and my dad loaded it into the humongous moving van standing up, and didn't tie it down.
after the first corner, they wondered what that enormous "crash" sound was.
it was the sound of my brand new dresser crashing to the ground and the drawers breaking before even one use.

we bought a new table and chairs when we moved here. within days isaac took a fork to it and,
well, it's no longer new. it now has fork gouge marks all over it.
not to mention the backs of the chairs that all have bite marks now, courtesy of the no-man.

how long do you think it will take these to become part of our family?
i almost want to puncture them myself just so i can let go of the anxiety every time my kids get near them.

here they are....our new couch and loveseat. quite an improvement over gus, wouldn't you say?

now all we need are some cute end tables and lamps to go on each side of the couch and eye-catching throw pillows. someday, right? i'd also like to get a big area rug and coffee table but those things are waaaay down on the totem pole of things i want/need. i just feel like this room needs some color now. it's all brown.

i was really worried about fitting two pieces of furniture in here, but i'm surprised how well they fit, and how nice it is to have somewhere besides the couch to sit, especially when people come over.

our carpet, by the way, is not white. my friend lynette said my carpet looked so clean (it is, we just had it cleaned when i was spring cleaning) and white....i guess it's the lighting, because the carpet is brown. i'm not that crazy.

Leather couches--I'm so in love. Smart choice with kids!

And, my heart broke when I read about your drawers! What did you do?

Very lovely. I had the same problem with color in our living room. All brown. Brown carpet, beige walls, brown leather couch. I finally got some curtains that have a little color in them and some green pillows with brown stitching (which Ryan hates by the way) which helped. I'm still looking for other accessories to spice it up in here though. But you will love your leather couches! Ours have taken a serious beating and no punctures yet. They are kinda scuffed up where we sit the most with our jeans on, but no serious injuries.

They look so good! I wish we would have done leather when we bought our couches... I just couldn't find red leather, and I knew I wanted red couches-so microfiber will have to do. We just had them professionally cleaned though (because of all the reconstruction stuff going on...) and I must say they look almost new. Yay! Don't you just love having two comfy spots to sit! I'm so glad we do too. Even if it's a bit more stuffy in the room!!
Love the new couches.... by they way... what DID you end up doing with gus? :-)

Nice! I like them!

we took gus to the dump. i just didn't think anybody would want that old beat up dirty couch.

lynette, we just use it (the dresser)! you really can't tell that they're broken, they still slide okay for the most part. i wanted to take it back but it wasn't the store's fault, so we just live with it.

Nice upgrade! Good to know we'll be living in luxury if we ever need to crash there. It was no problem to have Dave down here; the more the merrier for an AI party! It's always good to get the brothers together. We'll see you guys next week for Scott's graduation.
