question of the week:
*******************
i have a few that stand out in my mind:
for my 5th birthday i got to go to pistol pete's pizza and my friend lindsay from preschool came,
and we sang "bad, bad, bad, bad boys" by gloria estefan in the van on the way there.
it was awesome. (i was going to link to that song but i just realized
the lyrics are totally inappropriate. why did i know this song when i was 4?)
i really loved my 15th birthday because i got to get my driver's license.
that's right, in albuquerque we got them at 15. isn't that scary?
i was a freshman in high school. yikes.
my 19th birthday was a good one. it was my first birthday away from home so i was a little worried about it. i went to dinner with my brother and his girlfriend holly, and jessica and her boyfriend scott at the outback (courtesy of my dad...without his permission, and notice i was even the 5th wheel at my own birthday party) and holly made me an AMAZING chocolate cake with skor bars crushed on top. i was nervous about it being a bad, lonely birthday but it turned out i had good friends and good family to help it be a great day. my old roommate val's birthday is 2 days after mine so she came down from idaho to hang out with us and a few days later. we went to t.g.i.fridays and the waiter tied balloons in our hair so that our hair stood up. we had a fun few days of birthday celebration that year.
my 18th birthday was really fun. my nephew hunter was born the day before, on st. patrick's day. my mom was out of town so i asked my dad if i could skip school and go see hunter at the hospital--he said no. my mom totally would have said yes. okay maybe not, but that's what i told myself. so i went to first period, then decided to leave and go to the hospital. surprise, surprise, my dad was there when i got there. whoops. he didn't bust me though. how could you bust someone when such a sweet, new baby was in the room?
the other reason my 18th was memorable is because of my birthday list. i was listening to the radio as i made it and garth brooks' "two pina coladas" came on. so on my list i wrote "two pina coladas". then i added "a bottle of your best wine" and "jack daniels". as a joke, i swear i didn't drink. my mom was flying home from her trip that day (or maybe the day after?) and so, also as a joke, she ordered jack daniels on the plane, thinking she'd get one of those cute little airplane bottles to bring to me. no. they brought her a shot of jack, at like 9:00 in the morning. i'm sure the stewardesses had a good laugh about the 50-year-old lady alcoholic. anyway, my mom cleared it up for them and they got her a little bottle of crown royal instead (no tiny bottles of jack on hand apparently). so that night as i'm opening presents, i open a bottle of wine, an airplane bottle of crown royal, and pina colada mix from my sister alice. it was hilarious. my dad was so confused (apparently he hadn't seen my list). i swear i was the only 18-year-old on the planet whose mom trusted her enough to buy her alcohol (and know she wouldn't drink it). that birthday stands out in my mind as my most memorable (and funny) so far.

Happy Birthday Em! Hope you have a wonderful day!
You are a sneaky sneak! Happy Birthday and I love the story of your Mom ordering Jack at 9am. That is a Mother who loves her daughter. I just pictured you wearing a cowboy hat and carrying a child's microphone and I hope you laugh today like I did that day.
remember when we ate dinner at TGI Friday's and the waitor took our picture and said, "big tips" but we thought he said "big ..." instead of tips?!? Our faces are so funny in that picture.
Happy Birthday Em! For anyone who wants to see some great pictures of Emily go to: theklips.blogspot.com
Happy Birthday! I hope the men in your life are feeling well enough to make it a special day for you.
Happy Birthday, Em! Hope it's a good one! :)
P.S. Check out the FF Blog--there's a post there for you, too! ;)
My birthdays are always terrible. I have a curse, but I would have to say my most recent 30th was the best evah! Bowling and pizza and family...oh my! It was heaven and I love being 30.
Is Oprah correct? Does aging just keep getting better and better?
WAIT! It's your birthday today?!!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!
I love you Girl!
Hmmm...now to get a fabulous present.
Happy Birthday sweet Emily!
The birthday that stands out the most to me is my 6th. I had a skate party at the roller rink (we even had cupcakes with roller skates on them)and it snowed! I'll never forget it...
Happy B-day. Hope you get lots of presents and lots of hugs and kisses! One of my best birthdays was last year. We were in Tooele and we have 5 birthdays in August. So we had this huge party and my sisters-in-law got me this awesome tiara and the family all chipped in and bought me a Wii. It was crazy fun!
Happy Birthday Emily! I hope you have a fabulous day!
Some of my favorite birthday memories are when Darryl made his computer sing to me, some of my awesome swimming pool birthday bashes. My first surprise party my ward threw me in college. And the time my roommates told my ward it was my birthday so they would get to help me celebrate since I was graduating and wouldn't be there for my birthday. They made cupcakes and bought presents and told a bunch of my other friends to come too. It was a blast, 4 months early.
Happy birthday! I hope you get to do something fun today!
Happy Birthday! I hope it's a good one!
One of my favorites was my 8th - I got to have a slumber party the night before my baptism. And my 16th was good too - I celebrated it for weeks. We had a big joint HS party for me, Nikki and Vicky (from my "squad") and then I got to go to California with Delos to visit the Davidsons and I can't remember what else but it was a fun one. Worst ever - two years ago.
I totally forgot about that birthday in 1999! It was so fun! I DO remember that we had such a great time that year before James and I got married. I remember telling my Mom that I thought you were so cool and that I would want to remain friends with YOU, even if things didn't work out with JAmes and me. (: Funny, huh? do you remember going to the world or dance together that fall?
Happy BIRTHDAY girl!!
Happy happy Birthday! :D I'm still totally LAUGHING about the Jack Daniels gifts--way cool mom :) lol!! I need to rethink some past bdays for a fun memory...
