the irish surname foley means "plunderer" (awesome) and comes from cork county, ireland. it is one of the most common irish surnames, with over 10,000 bearers. the crest bears the foley motto "ut prosim" meaning "that i may be of use."
in honor of my husband and kids irish heritage (i'm danish/swedish/english), we are celebrating st. patrick's day with a traditional irish dinner. no, not corn beef and cabbage (there is just nothing good about that horrid meal), we're having a traditional irish breakfast. complete with sausage, bacon, hashbrowns, eggs, and fried tomatoes. and you can't forget the green kool-aid. what irish meal would be complete without green kool-aid?
happy st. patrick's day!
and i thought it was neat, so i'm adding it onto this post.

finally - something that we disagree on! :D
We here at the H* house (not of Irish descent, but Welsh and English completely) LOVE Corn Beef and Cabbage dinner - in fact, we sadly had to postpone our St. Patty's day dinner to Sunday next - but it will make a GREAT Easter Dinner. Perhaps we have had it prepared differently - because it is SOOOOOO good at our house.
But still, your breakfast for dinner looks fab - fried tomatoes is an English breakfast thing, too - must be the living-on-a-green-island thing. :D
Yumm-o! I want some!
okay natalie, give me your recipe. the one time i tried to make it it was DISGUSTING. pure fatty meat. YUCK.
hope your family starts feelin' better. did dave stay home from work?

yep, but i'm sure he's regretting it. the boys wouldn't leave him alone and i didn't discourage them...
love the green kool-aid. I am staying at Spencer and Marlee's house for a few days and she made green pancakes for breakfast this morning. Funny I never thought of serving "green" food on St. Paddy's day--but apparently everyone else has. Did you see Katie's blog today? She did some fun things to celebrate the day.
How yummy. Dave sure looks excited to be having his picture taken!! :-)
Thanks so much for all you have been doing for my family. I couldn't appreciate more! You are a lifesaver--and you are so thoughtful!!
I wasn't planning to do the corned beef and cabbage thing this year, but Michael actually requested it. There is no way to make a small amount, so I invited Doug, Jenny and the boys to come share it with us. The cabbage and potatoes were a little overdone, but the corned beef was yummy. Even Patrick and Andrew ate it:) Some years we do rueben sandwiches in lieu of. (corned beef and saurkraut--close substitute)
Plunderer,
Ummm...I don't know how Irish you can be if you hate Corned Beef and Cabbage. It is DELICIOUS! You must have done your genealogoy wrong. Sorry...I'm just sayin'.
Love,
Lord of the Horses
