what i believe: Jesus Christ

I believe that Jesus Christ lived, died, and was resurrected for me. Well, not just for me, for everybody, but for me too. I believe that before we came to this earth, Heavenly Father presented a plan: to send us, his spirit children, down to earth to be tested and tried, and if we remained faithful, to return to live with Him for eternity. But He knew we wouldn't be able to do it alone. Man by nature is fallen because of Adam's transgression in the Garden of Eden--we all suffered a spiritual death, or separation from God when Adam and Eve ate the fruit. We couldn't overcome that separation on our own. So He provided a Savior for us. When we sin we can repent, and in so doing we are overcoming that spiritual death. I believe that Jesus Christ suffered and died in Calvary for each and every one of us, all people who ever had lived or would live on the Earth.
He was the Great Jehovah of the Old Testament, the Messiah of the New. Under the direction of His Father, He was the creator of the earth. “All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made” (John 1:3). Though sinless, He was baptized to fulfill all righteousness. He “went about doing good” (Acts 10:38), yet was despised for it. His gospel was a message of peace and goodwill. He entreated all to follow His example. He walked the roads of Palestine, healing the sick, causing the blind to see, and raising the dead. He taught the truths of eternity, the reality of our premortal existence, the purpose of our life on earth, and the potential for the sons and daughters of God in the life to come (The Living Christ: The Testimony of the Apostles).

I believe that in the Garden of Gethsemane he bled from every pore as he suffered for all of the sins of the world--yours and mine. Luke 22:44 says "And being in an agony he prayed more earnestly: and his sweat was as it were great drops of blood falling down to the ground." I believe that he was crucified, and on the third day he rose from the tomb. He suffered and died and overcame death, "a sinless ransom for our sake" (Hymns, no. 190). I love reading the New Testament and learning about his life. I love reading about his kindness to sinners, the miracles he performed, and the truths he taught.

We testify that He will someday return to earth. “And the glory of the Lord shall be revealed, and all flesh shall see it together” (Isaiah 40:5). He will rule as King of Kings and reign as Lord of Lords, and every knee shall bend and every tongue shall speak in worship before Him. Each of us will stand to be judged of Him according to our works and the desires of our hearts....Jesus is the Living Christ, the immortal Son of God. He is the great King Immanuel, who stands today on the right hand of His Father. He is the light, the life, and the hope of the world. His way is the path that leads to happiness in this life and eternal life in the world to come. God be thanked for the matchless gift of His divine Son (The Living Christ: The Testimony of the Apostles).

I believe that Jesus Christ is my Savior.
