what i believe

I am a Mormon.

Mitt Romney, a presidential candidate, is a Mormon.

His candidacy has thrown the Mormon church into the spotlight. Most times, people do their research and write good things about our church, but not always.

Recently, M. Russell Ballard, an apostle for our Church, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (or Mormons) spoke at a commencement ceremony for Brigham Young University in Hawaii. He urged members of our church to use the Internet — including blogs and other forms of “new media” — to contribute to a national conversation about The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He said conversations about the Church would take place whether or not Church members decided to participate in them. Elder Ballard said there were too many conversations going on about the Church for Church representatives to respond to each individually, and that Church leaders “can’t answer every question, satisfy every inquiry and respond to every inaccuracy that exists.” He said students should consider sharing their views on blogs, responding to online news reports and using the “new media” in other ways."

So I have decided to do a new Sunday Series entitled "What I Believe." I thought I would answer this call by talking a bit about what I believe each week. I am not a spokesperson for the Mormon Church and there could possibly be inaccuracies in what I say here (but my dad reads this blog and will most likely correct me where I'm wrong) but I will do my best. I think most people who read this blog are Mormon, but there have been at least 3 people who have left comments that I don't know at all, and they could possibly not be members, and who knows how many people read this without commenting--I get between 25 and 50 hits a day usually, so I have no idea who all reads this. So if anyone has any further questions, feel free to comment and I will answer to the best of my ability. You can find my first post below.

Well, I guess since I "hijacked" your last Sunday Series you had to move on to bigger and better things!
Great job... seriously, you should be a writer!

Very nice Em. There is certainly nothing that I would edit. Your testimony is yours not anyone else and it looks pretty doctrinally sound.
