We went to Church on New Year's Eve and then that afternoon drove to Alice's house in Albuquerque. She fed us delish spaghetti and then we played games, watched the Sound of Music, and had snacks all night. Zoe, Noah, and Isaac stayed up 'til midnight with us and we had so much fun! They were so cute with their Martinelli's saying"Cheers!"
The next day Dave had to go home for work but he took the kids to see Jumanji before he left. We had steak sandwiches for dinner and stayed up way too late again. On Tuesday I took the kids to a trampoline park at Zoe's request and we had Chick-fil-A for lunch. I made meatloaf and Alice made potatoes, asparagus and peas for dinner. It was yummy! Poor Haley sprained her ankle really badly at basketball that night, I felt so bad for her. We stayed up late again playing games and the boys watched Guardians of the Galaxy 2 with Dave (Skousen).

Wednesday I took the kids to...the MALL! It was so funny, it was like they'd never been to a mall before. They rode the carousel, went up and down the escalators, and went in shops while I let the little boys play on the indoor play area. They each chose one thing with their Christmas money from Grandma and Grandpa Larson. Isaac got a Porg from Star Wars at the Disney Store, Noah got a video game for the Switch, Zoe did Build-A-Bear for the first time ever and is now itching to go back, and Finn got a Paw Patrol backpack (Jonas donated his money to our Hot Dog on a Stick lunch, ha!). Then we went to JoAnn's so I could buy fabric for Zoe's baptism quilt--she turns 8 in 2 months, yikes! and we went home (to Alice's). More games and yaki soba for dinner, mmmboy.
Zoe by herself, as usual....poor girl.
We cleaned up and left Thursday morning and I already miss them. My kids just love going to the Skousens and so do I. I love having family just 2 hours away, it was so nice to be with them. Plus they have so much space in their house for us now that almost all the kids have left, it's heaven! Ha! This picture is weird but it's a picture from up above, looking down at Dave holding Jonas and Alice standing next to them. My kids just LOVE them and they are so sweet with them. I'm so lucky.
We were playing games one night and Finn had a piece of paper and a pencil and said "Look Mom, I did my number!" He wrote a backwards F without any help. So amazing.
The amount of laundry we accumulated in just a few days was ridiculous (I even did laundry while I was there!).
I'm so grateful for the Skousen family and for the treat it was to be with them. Happy New Year!
