when we moved out of my parents basement, we got a king-size bed. that meant we had to get all new bedding, which is really expensive for king-size. i found a comforter at costco that i loved (seriously) for $100 and i've been nothing but happy with it, and so glad that something was cheap (our sheets cost more than that!). we matched paint with a swatch at home depot so that it would be perfect, and i love it. sadly, this week the comforter got a huge rip in it. i have no idea how, but it's totally a goner. for the moment i have it flipped over so the rip isn't showing, but we definitely have to get something new. the problem is, i can't get the same thing (you know how costco only has things for a week or two and then they're gone, and this was 3 years ago), but the sheets, towels, rugs, shower curtain, decorations, and paint are all specifically matched to that comforter, so this severely limits my choices. i have no idea what to do.

I am so into this blueish/greening color right now. Thinking of painting one of my bedroom walls that color. But I need the brown to be black and I can't find something like that anywhere.

Hate it when that happens! Good luck in your search, I'll keep my eye open for ya (did you check your local Pottery Barn outlet, what are they called, Downhome or Downeast something or other? I can never remember?) I got a great Restoration Hardware king sized blanket from there for super cheap. It's hit or miss, but worth a check!
we, too, are in the market for king bed bedding and such. i'm getting one from west elm - they have similar colors that aren't at RH prices.

Bummer. I've had good luck with Target bedding. Particularly loving the Dwell Studio stuff. We just got the Perch Comforter set and I LOVE it. Sorry, I know that doesn't help with your color dilemma. :)

From what I understand, Costco does reimbursements for broken items...no matter how long you've owned them. And since everything you buy is recorded on your account, they can verify without a reciept. Our bishop's wife buys their cell phones and electronics there for this reason. They've returned one big screen (two years later) and a cell phone or two after they were dropped on the ground. It might help offset the cost of the Restoration Hardware set. Just a thought.

that is pretty. I got my bed-in-a-bag set from Target and I LOVE it. It's the Home brand by Target in brown/blue. It was $60 and doesn't feel the least bit cheap :D
