random thought thursday, pregnant edition

i have craved soda
more than anything else
this pregnancy.
weird, 'cause i don't normally drink much soda.
but i lay in bed at night
dreaming of a fountain drink with yummy ice.
mmm, i gotta make a quick run to the store.

******

so glad to be pregnant
in the winter this time.
i've been so hot the past few days
and it's 32* outside.
imagine how hot i was
when i was 9 months pregnant
in august with noah.

******

baby girl kicks like crazy
when isaac sits by me and talks.
i think she's gonna like him.

******

re-reading the baby whisperer book
this week to try and remind myself
how to have a good baby that sleeps.
i don't want to mess this kid up,
so i'm starting it right this time.

******

i am seriously
going to miss
the expectant mother's parking.

******

i am also going to miss
how everywhere you go,
other moms start talking to you
and are so friendly,
just because i'm pregnant.
i love moms.

******

bought a minivan on tuesday.
i feel very weird about it now.
all of a sudden,
i'm not sure i'm old enough
to drive a minivan.

******

ice cream.
yes, that'll do nicely.

******

today i have to

take isaac to school
get the car insured
get a safety/emissions test
go to the DMV to register the car (in farmington no less)
meet the woman who's buying our bassinet
go to another appointment
go to draper

it's going to be a busy day.
so glad to get it done before baby girl gets here.

I craved Coke non-stop for a few weeks after Sasha was born, and I didn't see one expectant mother parking spot until she was a week old. I so hear you about the minivan.

And, related but random (so it fits right in, huh?) I wanted to tell you that I believe our bodies know what our babies need, and that your body was designed to carry this little one. I hope that your labor and delivery go smoothly. Do you have a birth plan? I loved making mine, because I kinda visualized what I hoped for. Worked pretty well, I have to say. :-)

Jess--we've stored it for the past 3 1/2 years and don't plan on using it, so I figured I might as well sell it. We used it for a month or two with Noah but I never really liked it. It's so much easier to just put the baby in the crib from the start. I believe that the less transitions you introduce your baby to, the better. (or easier. Whatever.)

Rachel, I don't have a birth plan beyond "get epidural, push baby out." Help me out here.

I still have a total love/hate thing going with my van, but I don't think I would own anything else. They are so great with kids. (although you do feel slightly old-ish and uncool)

i honestly don't get the whole fountain drink thing. i grew up on diet coke from the bottle, and don't evne like how coke tastes from the fountain. but i suppose the whole point is that things change when you are pregnant!

isaac is gonna be a great big brother to his little sister! so cute!

i remember the summer after our senior year of HS i refused to carry a purse because i thought of it as so "grown up" and i felt like i wasn't ready yet. i'm thinking that's close to how you feel about the minivan. 2 years in a row i was awarded "most likely to drive a minivan" from the drama club.

ice cream is great year round!

get busy, with your busy day!

on a side note and to comment on Rachel's comment. forget the birth plan, what is the plan to keep blogging once baby girl comes?! ...that's my main concern! :)i need to know that a blog plan is in place in order to survive my work day! and your birth plan is perfect! ;)

on another side note, while watching the olympics last night their was a Canadian winner with the name Maelle, and I thought "what a pretty name for a girl" and i thought i would share it with you. pronounced My-el. i also thought of Maella.

Love a good fountain drink. It tastes better from the fountain!

Love baby kicks. Sorry if it causes you not to be able to breathe.

I'm proud of you for stepping up to the mini van plate. Maybe my transition will be easier in a few years when it's my turn.

The name Maelle reminds me a Mayella from To Kill a Mockingbird.

I think you should stay home and wait for presents to be delivered! Speaking of To kill a Mockingbird Jessica - Name new baby girl SCOUT!!

i cannot stop thinking about soda! when i was pregnant it gave me heartburn so i rarely drank it, but ever since i had lexie i HAVE to have a something cold and fizzy.

winter babies are the best. although, a winter baby in singapore is really a summer baby.

what's the baby whisperer? can i start now?

yes, i miss how friendly people are too! it's an easy conversation piece that pregnant belly.

we were so close to buying a minivan! but then we found an almost new expedition for the same price and we bought that instead.

what kind of icecream?

whoa. you are going to have a busy day. i think tomorrow YOU might need to refuel.

p.s. why don't i ever see you online anymore?

p.p.s. when is your due date again? i know i've asked about a million times. sorry.

p.p.p.s. are you still at the address with unit #A8?

I LOVE my mini-van. I always have and I've had it since I was 25! ;-)

Yeah,I think us naming our puppy "Scout" has effectively ruined it as a human name. Oh, how I LOVE that book!

Congrats on the minivan. From one shorty to another, they're WONDERFUL.

P.S. I keep checking your blog because I keep thinking you must be in labor if you're not posting!

Jessica said...

sorry, Ellen, I've seen you in your minivan, and you're not as cool as you think!!! ha haha

I love ice cream right now, because I get so hot too. I am so glad that I don't have to go through it in July or August, I would die!!
Also have you been to Sonic, they have some super yummy drinks. Like a Strawberry limeade!!

So just to throw it out there... if you are a believer in sleep books you MUST read "Healthy sleep, habits happy child" It is AWESOME. Some of the writing is pretty technical, not like easy entertaining reading, but in info rocks. It made me feel so confident in my ability to be a good parent!

I was pregnant with Rachel during my first HOUSTON summer. If you've been there, you know what I'm talking about. Ugh. Can't even think about it without sweating....

Go minivan go! I have a serious soda addiction I need to get rid of it and those newborn diapers are so adorable, it is weird to think that babies are small enough to fit in those.
