i refuse to go grocery shopping until friday.
i have my reasons. i'm not going to share them.
i just wanted you to know.
but when you (i) don't go grocery shopping, and you (i) have no snacks or other combineable ingredients, the thoughts of food consumes you (me). so instead of chowing on bisquick and BBQ sauce, i thought i'd post a picture of our empty pantry. oh, i know it doesn't look empty.
what do you make for dinner with hormel chili, black beans, easy cheese, cream of mushroom soup, and seven boxes of pasta? beats me. i can't wait 'til friday.

now you know you have to tell us what's in the brown paper bag, right?!
make pancakes! i love breakfast for dinner.
What's in your fridge?
If we lived in the same city you'd be coming to my house for dinner.
I've GOT IT!
Use the beans to make the bean soup. Add a can of the crushed tomoatoes and some of the pasta to the bean soup.
Use the bisquick to make garlic/parsley drop biscuits to eat with the soup.
Next, make some pie crust and make the family apple pie turnovers fro dessert.
VOILA!
I'd be serving pancakes or waffles at least once. If you have any breakfast sausage in your fridge or frezer, we like to cook it, chop it up pretty small and put that IN our pancakes. :-) Oh, or if there's vanilla ice cream or cool whip somewhere, apple pie pancakes a-la-mode - plain pancakes topped with a scoop of pie filling and (maybe) ice cream or whipped cream - heavenly! Forget my sausae idea - go for a-la-mode!!!
Plus, with that big can of diced tomatoes, you could throw together a simple sauce - saute some garlic and onions, add the tomatoes and whatever herbs. Even some frozen veggies - I like spinach in my sauces.
And, I would consider adding the black beans to the hormel (I like beans in my chili), and making cornbread.
You could totally have a "guess the contents" contest with that paper bag, by the way. I'd play.
breakfast would work to. You can make pancakes with the Bisquick and you have syrup.
Home Pregnancy Tests? No idea why you'd keep that in the pantry, though. It came to mind when you said we'd never guess what's in the bag.
Do what I do when I don't want to go shopping...go to your parent's house for dinner. Well, I don't go to your parent's house, I go to mine. You get it.
I dont know about dinner, but you can totally make an apple pie with bisquick and the apple pie filling that I gave you fro Christmas. It is really yummy by the way.
I don't know what you make for dinner but the coffee cake made from bisquick is oh-so-yummy for a snack when you are low on food but high on bisquick (which you obviously are).
My work here is done.
chili & cornbread one night. jiffy cornbread is really quite yummy with some honey on top.
pancakes the next night!
mcdonald's the next night! woohoo! :)
make green pancakes for St. Patricks day. I did and they were met with mixed reviews. Those adn a tasty side of marshmellows and ritz. Mmmm.....
rice anywhere? cook the rice in the tomatoes and add black beans. we eat that all the time. also, i think you've got condoms in the brown bag
Brown bag - I guess batteries. haha... I don't know.
I am impressed by all of the good cooks who read your blog. I hate coming up for dinner ideas.
You make pancakes with apple pie filling and marshmallow fluff. Duh!
Don't ask me I'm all out of ideas and still not quite in the mood to cook. My kids wanted hot-dogs for dinner tonight: I just explained it all on my blog... Let's just say I had a Tomato sandwich!
Just throw it all in a dish and have some goolaush...how do you spell that word anyways? Good luck, your pantry is super organized though, that's a plus.
like everyone else already suggested, you could make brinner (scrubs reference.) and, i think i spy some stove top. cook up some chicken. in a 8x8 pan, place diced cooked chicken and pour the cream of mushroom over it. then, cook the stovetop according to the directions, top the chicken and soup with the cooked stovetop and place the dish in the oven for 30 minutes until the stovetop begins to brown. i make that ALL the time!
now, spill it. what's in the bag?
Wow... this picture makes me realize how much crap I have in MY pantry. Look how organized you are... =)
DUDE you guys, these recipes are awesome! thank you! Can't wait to try them.
The bag does NOT have condoms or a pregnancy test, though that would be hilarious (thanks for the guesses).
Cheese and chili spaghetti, or pasta. IT's really good. Melt the cheese over hot chili on top of pasta. I love it, but James doesn't so much.
