last week i mentioned a book i couldn't put down that my friend jenn recommended. it's called the hunger games by suzanne collins and it was fantastic. i don't want to ruin the story for you so i'm not going to give it away here, i'll just say it's a modern-day lord of the flies with the sweetest love story mixed in. i can't get it out of my mind. like jenn said, the names threw me off a little and it took me a while to figure out if the main character was a boy or a girl (girl) and if the person named gale was a boy or a girl (boy), but once the genders were all worked out, i dug right in. i read it in less than a day because i quite literally couldn't put it down. the entire book is tense. you know how the ends of scary books are so scary you might pull a muscle, scream, and cry out of fear all at the same time? that's how this book is the entire way through. there is no letting up. luckily there is a sequel coming out in september so i don't have to wait too long to get back into katniss's life.
if you don't like science fiction or violence, this is not the book for you. just fyi.

I'm so excited to read it! looks awesome!!
Oooh I am excited, I've been wanting a good book to read lately. By the way I dig your new colors etc....
I totally mentioned that in my blog like 3 months ago! Wasn't it a great book?!
I read it in three days. But once I read the entire twilight sereis in 2 days.
Love the new blog look! I read this a few days before I had Eric. And I LOVED it too. It took me two days but that second day, I could not put it down. Can't wait for the sequel. Our book club is reading it for Feb. but I'm gonna miss the meeting because CJ will be in school that night - ugh.
Sounds great! I'll add it to my list.
maybe i'll tell ammon about it. he's a reader, i'm not. would you still recommend it to a guy?
totally, lynette. the main character is a girl but she's tougher than any guy i know.
