opinions and advice requested, part 2

i need some honesty here.
today i let my hair dry mostly naturally,
then used a diffuser to get it all the way dry.
at first i thought it was SO cute.
then i changed my mind
and decided it was a puff of frizz
and looked terrible.

only...only it was SO easy to do, and took about 13 seconds
as opposed to 20 or more minutes when i round brush it straight.
so...brutal honesty here. cute, or not cute?

here's the back view...

and here's the front view:
what do you think? i am allowing anonymous comments on this post
so you can tell me what you really think without repercussion.

only...i only want to hear

"cute"

or

"not cute".

my self esteem can't take much more than that.
if there are ANY mean comments, they will be immediately deleted
by the blog administrator (me).
so be nice.
but honest.

and please don't mention my gigantic nose.
or my lazy eye.
i already know about those.

thank you.

I REALLY like it. I love soft curls. I dont think that it looks poofy at all. If you are worried that you might lose the wave, use a little mousse and hairspray. That helps me a little. Def a good look!

Definitely cute! I think there should be MORE natural looking hair and not so much processed hair. You are so lucky that it goes all wavy like that!

i have a way worse lazy eye! I say not.

CUTE! Seriously, too. I am being totally honest. And your hair is SO LoNg! I love it! I've always wanted waviness but, alas, my hair is as straight as a spaghetti noodle.

Totally love it! This is my goal for my hair. Love the wave. You look like you could be on Lord of the Rings!

If you wanna go curly then,

Cut off 6 inches.
Get long layers.

Then you can go curly.

CUTE.

Dude. Forget about the curls vs. non-curls.

You without bangs is super cute.
Love seeing your face and it makes you look a bit more sophisicated.
My vote is for no bangs.

Oops! I didn't say cute or not cute. And I didn't comment on curls vs. no curls.

Wait. Have you always had no bangs?
Am I losing my mind?
Maybe my vote is for curls then since somehting seems different.
But I agree on making it a bit shorter if you want to go that route.

hilarious! thanks emilie, i'm growing them out as we speak. had bangs my whole life 'til senior year of high school (thought my forehead was too big)...then got them again because of reese witherspoon two years ago. it has now been almost 6 months since my last hair cut/color and i figure i might as well just grow them at this point, since they're down to my chin by now.

Seriously some long hair there! I am kind of torn - I have way more curl than you do and I LOVE my straight iron and having straight hair. The lady that cuts my hair wants me to wear it curly and the last time she cut it that's how she styled it after the cut and JohnPaul thought I had got it permed! I am no help - Sorry!

very cute! i hate my own curls but tend to love other peoples. i usually go curly for days at home or very casual days and straight if i want to fee more pulled together.

i can't believe how long your hair is!! i agree that the curls would look even better if you cut it a bit and layered it, but is that how you want your straight hair? i also like my hair curly while it's still a bit wet and then when it's way dry i feel poofy too, but yours does not look poofy at all. i say it's a good look and it's nice to change it up a bit!

Love it! And holy long hair!!

ok, i do the same thing with my hair. at first, i love it but about an hour later the springy curls turn into waves and my hair looks deflated and frizzy. i wear my hair like that every now and then, but my vote is "no curls."

It looks gorgeous! I love the soft curls. I wish my hair was that long and wavy. Mine just looks retarded wavy, and doesn't hold the curl very well. Easy-peasy is the best! I'm so jealous!

just fyi, dave just walked in the door and goes, "hey, your hair's curly! it looks really good!" totally unsolicited, hadn't read the blog, and said lookin' good. nice.

Jack Attack said...

cute! and with 2 little ones, minimal effort is necessary. I'm jealous. I've have been cursed with super straight, fine hair.

I can't believe how long your hair is!! I love it!
I like it with the curly look..maybe add a little more product..not so much that it looks crispy, but just a little more to the back to give it a little more umph..try Tres Semme curl enhancing moose..thats a good one to give it a good curl but not 'crisp' then scrunch or 'twirl' your hair around your fingers to give it that curl..love that natural look!

Emily said...

brit, i'm not sure i'd call that a curse!

thanks everyone. i'll probably do it every now and then, but not as an everyday look. is that acceptable?

Cute..sort of late since you've made up your mind. I really had no clue you had naturally curly hair. It would be nice to have some variety and wear it like that every now and then.

Diana and Scott said...

Definitely CUTE. I've tried to get my hair to do that and it rarely, rarely happens. But when it does, I love it, love it, love it.

What lazy eye are talking about? I don't see it... at all.

Cute and I like you without bangs. Besides, Dave is the opinion that matters.

Very cute!

I say very cute. I have curly hair too-but majority of the time I do it straight. The nice thing when you have both, you can do both! ...I have my curly hair days when I'm lazy and don't want to do my hair. So yes, that is acceptable :)

I would vote no curls and cut the hair its to long and does not look helthy at all. And those arent curls that is just a wave

Maude Beckman said...

I really like the curls! As a lazy hair person myself, I think it is very convenient and it really loos super cute!

ellen said...

cute, don't cut yet

Em said...

Obviously I'm late to this, but I think that if Dave reacted the way he did- you should at least do it once in a while.

Emily said...

it definitely needs a trim, but i'm not ready to cut it off yet.

and it's "too", not "to" anonymous commenter. and "aren't" has an apostrophe. and "healthy" has an "a" in it.

(sorry to be mean but i told you i couldn't take more than "not cute" you know).

christina said...

Cute! Your hair is beautiful...seriously! How did you get it that long? I always want to chop it off once it get half way down my back.

Anywho - I wear my hair like that all summer practically. I don't know if it looks good or not. But,it's too hot to fix everyday and I like to give it a break from the heat of the blow dryer/straight iron.

SUGGESTION: Since I have "no curls" and just "waves" I use Sunsilk Waves of Envy & Sunsilk Hairapy Waves of Envy Mist. They are better than any salon products I've tried. AND...they're not expensive.

CUTE! and your hair looks super healthy! anonymous up there didn't know what they were talking about :) You're hair is cute straight too but with 2 kids anything fast is good!

Emily said...

aw, thanks jennie.

LOL. The comment exchange is funny. One more for the editing, Em:

"hair its" should be "hair; it's" :P

Heheheh. Since everyone else is saying way more than "cute" or "not cute," I'll just add that my hair does that same wave thing when I air dry. I do it sometimes in the summer after swimming because it's SO MUCH FASTER (and cooler -- temperature wise), but on myself I much prefer straight hair. When I do the curls thing, I wear it up. Oh and I use gel so that it's not frizzy. But mostly on myself and others, except for the occasional woman with some seriously dang good curls, straight hair is what catches my eye and turns my head. I *love* straight hair a la Jennifer Aniston. Love it. But my overall verdict just the same is:

cute.
