my dad and brother delos get really good tickets every year to the byu football home games and share the cost. my dad offered his tickets for saturday's game to me and dave. he also offered to watch our kids, and let us take his truck so we could park far away and ride bikes to the stadium. it really doesn't get better than that.
(thanks, dad!)
check out those seats. directly on the 50 yard line!
the band made a Y.
neat.
clockwise, from top left:
- dude in front of me was taller than me when we were both standing. and i was a full step higher than him. also brought his baby, who never made one peep and just sat on their laps the whole time. oh, and he took a nap for about an hour. where do people get kids like that? 'cause i'd like one. i'd also like to grow about 6 inches.
- cougar's first touchdown, second or third play of the game.
- final score, cougars 42, unlv 35. it was a nailbiter. no defense on either side. unlv quarterback is unstoppable. the only drive they didn't get a touchdown on was the one he sat out after a late hit. and their last drive of the game they didn't score either, but just barely (see video below).
- lady in front of us had a killer ring.
- dave really enjoyed his hot dog. as did i. the picture is not pretty, however, and i get to choose what pictures you see of me. so that one is staying on the hard drive, and i'll put dave out there instead.
mostly, sitting on the west side of the stands is boring. it's all the old rich people. i'd much rather sit with the students who stand, cheer, and boogey. although you really can't get better than the 50 yard line, if you're looking to watch the game. you can tell from the pictures above that the game was not my main priority here. it's just so sad when they do the south stand "b", east stand "y", north stand "u" and they get to us to yell "cougars" and i'm the only person yelling. and the wave always completely dies at the west stands. i mean, why even bother to go to the game if you're not going to participate? come on people.
here's the second-to-last play of the game. next play qb threw an interception and it was over. it was pretty exciting.
oh, i forgot the best part. tall dude in front of me leans over to the couple sitting next to him and says, "are you related to the richards? i figure he must be on his deathbed if he's not here at the game. he was my mission president." the woman says "i'm his daughter. his sister died." D'OH! he shut right up and they didn't talk again.

Fun! Nice people watching observances.
You totally made me laugh with your "the band made a Y. neat" comment (even if you didn't mean to).
Watch the BDBITL on youtube.
Lots of fun! Do feel weird taking pictures of the back of people's heads(tall dude) and peoples hands(lady with killer ring)? ...I would feel weird. Just curious.
nah. they have no idea what i'm taking pictures of. i could be zooming in to take a picture of the field for all they know! i did try to take just a profile shot of the baby because some people might not want pictures of their kids on the internet.
I love BYU football!! I mad Nick go to a game that year and he took is U of U beanie. What a chump.
i love those seats. i need to go to one more game!

fun, I want to go sometime, you're much more of a boogey-er than me so I would like sitting with all the old people who don't stand up
it was the perfect day for football, almost too warm actually (dave got sunburnt) and we had loads of good food. fun.
jen, dave tried to wear his U of U beanie but i had the tickets and wasn't going to let that thing anywhere near those sweet seats.
I would have yelled "cougars" with you. Absolutely. Boogey? Not.
aw, come on! they have some really good music during time outs!
