question of the week:

what is one of your favorite memories?
******

i walked in the door from cheering at some event or another, probably baseball. mom was still out of town, but there was dad, sitting at the counter. he handed me an envelope. it came. it finally came. i almost started hyperventilating. what if it said no? what if i didn't get in? what was i going to do? i hadn't gotten in to ricks, and i didn't apply anywhere else. i can't open it. i just can't open it.

"you have to open it, i've been waiting for you to get home all night."
"i can't do it dad. i just can't."
"it's thicker than one piece of paper, i think you got in."
hmmm, interesting. that was true. a rejection letter would probably just be one piece of paper. this was definitely more than one piece of paper. it felt like a packet of papers. minutes passed. dad was getting annoyed. my heart felt like it was beating a million miles a minute as i finally sliced the envelope open. i thought i might throw up. i slowly opened the first piece of paper and burst into tears as i read,
"I am pleased to inform you that you have been admitted to Brigham Young University as an undergraduate student beginning Summer term 1998."
dad looked so happy, and a little surprised. i danced around the room, then rushed to call my family and best friend and tell them all the miraculous news. i wasn't going to be the family disappointment after all.

Oh that's a hard one...I have a lot of good memories. The first one that popped into my mind though was the first time I saw that faint second pink line on a pregnancy test. I had been waiting so long to be pregnant that I thought my heart was going to jump out of my throat. I wasn't even totally convinced I wasn't making the line up. It took 3 or 4 more tests to convince me I wasn't seeing things. But that was a pretty great moment.

You're really poking at our brains here. I thought of one from my teenage years that still makes me chuckle. The Timpanogas Temple had just opened and my dad was in the bishopric in our ward. We had gone to do baptisms in the afternoon and then dad was supposed to rush me to a volleyball game. When we left the teple it was getting dark. Since the temple was new they had all the landscaping done and the small trees had those wire type things for support. As we were walking to the truck we were chatting and then I realized that he wasn't there anymore. HE HAD TRIPPED ON ONE OF THE WIRES AND WENT SPRAWLING!!! (He didn't get hurt.) I couldn't breath I was laughing so hard. Then he got in the truck and locked me out until I would stop laughing. I was late for volleyball that day. Fun Stuff!

A favorite from my chidhood was I was around 15 or so and we had a MAJOR snowstorm. Everything was closed so my whole family went out to play in the mile high snow. My dad shoveled huge piles by his truck and we stood on the side if it and did flips into huge mountians of snow. It was really fun. My dad made a Pete's Dragon dragon out of snow and sprayed him with colored water. Good times.

Going on a date with Matt when we were engaged.

We went to the Springville Fine Art Museum and saw this amazing painting caled "Seeing for Two" which depicted an old couple where the husband was blind and the wife was gently leading him. It was so touching.

I decided if I ever have money I am going to buy that painting.

That day was a perfect day.

Neat painting! I wonder if it's for sale?

i have to say it was brynn's ultrasound. i loved hearing the news of getting each of our boys and even hearing that we were actually finally pregnant, but they all seemed surreal. we felt happy, but couldn't quite believe it was true.

with her ultrasound it was so wonderful and right there in front of us. she was healthy and totally a spaz(just like she is now). i just remember my face hurt from smiling so much. so fun.

My favorite memory is the night I was released from my stake president as a missionary. After, I went to dinner with my family. Then, as soon as we got home, I called Tyler. We watied four years (met as freshmen at BYU-Idaho-then both went on missions. I returned nine months after he did. Yes, he waited for ME!) to confirm our feelings. We talked all night, and I remember the converstaion flowing and fun as it always has been.

Tori, I didn't know you guys knew each other for that long. How exciting! I like stories like that. My sister Sara's husband waited for her too.

One of mine is the night Sean proposed to me. I said Yes (obviously) but then the reality set in (you'll remember that my parents and bro hadn't been exactly fond of Sean at the time). I said to Sean, "what are we going to tall my parents?" Sean replied, I already talked to your dad and asked for his permission to marry you. I was shocked! My jaw fell--and it was all caught on video tape. And then I said, "well, what are we going to do about my brother?" Sean said, "I've already talked to him too." I could've falled over I was so shocked and happy--my face is hilarious on the video camera while Sean was telling me all this. I love it!

These are all good ones! I still remember getting my acceptance to BYU, getting engaged, finding out I was pregnant for the first time...fun! But one of my favorite memories is the weekend the Larson girls stayed at that great hotel in downtown SLC and ate at the melting pot and shopped and had a great time! When can we do that again?
