i have never just walked in and voted (except for once in albuquerque when i was 18). every time i go there is a problem with my registration. i am so sick of it! once i went to vote after both my parents and dave and they told me i wasn't in that district...even though 3 people i lived with had already voted there. sooo annoying. tuesday i had to vote provisional because they didn't have me registered at all even though i registered when i changed my license 6 months ago.

does anyone have any tips on how to get kids to sing in primary? (particularly the older kids)

Our choirster just did a really cute idea. She called it "snowballing". The kids wrote down one favorite song on a piece of paper and then there was a countdown and everyone threw their piece of paper at the choirster all at once. Then she would pick up a sheet at a time and they would sing. Our kids also really like to sing out of the grown up hymn book - I think they like having one to hold. Not exactly what you asked for, but there you have it.
Ha! Carly just picked out Alice in Wonderland to watch right now! When she did, I thought to myself, "This has to be one of my least favorite Disney movies." Seriously... odd.
Have the big kids take turns leading the music. If they don't know how, maybe have a special "music" activity for only the senior primary and teach them how. You must have prizes and treats at such an event, of course. This gives them a feeling of ownership and pride and so at the activity you can stress the need for them to sing. Tell an inspirational story or two about singing (i.e. John Taylor).
Also, if some of them play the piano, arrange with your pianist to assign them some of the songs. They can practice and then accompany when they are ready.
great ideas Shirlene, songs they like always help. That year we did scripture power the older kids went crazy for it and would sing their heads off
Sorry about the snow, papercuts, headaches and NO CHOCOLATE! I bet the chocolate would solve it ALL! Hey, it might even make the older kids sing!
okay i just realized that this is the most negative stream of random thoughts in the history or random thought thursdays. i'm gonna turn that frown upsidedown and be happy! (just you wait, watch for tomorrow's post, i really am!)
I used to love Alice in Wonderland. Now I find it rather disturbing. I agree about the papercuts and headaches as I am suffering from both ailments as I type!
