what's your most embarrassing moment?
******************
i know i have one. i just cannot remember it. i have lots of embarrassing moments though (i just can't think of the most embarrassing one). for example:
- at byu my freshman year i was walking down the steps in the eyring science center--the marble ones next to the front doors, right next to a classroom. there were lots of people waiting to go inside their classroom and as i got closer to the bottom somehow my foot slipped and i started to fall forward, then forced myself backwards so that i only stumbled a litttle and then ended up sitting on the steps. a couple of people were like, "are you okay?" and i go "yeah, i'm fine." but as i tried to get up, i was not fine. i had sprained my ankle pretty badly and could hardly walk. everyone was watching, but somehow i made it to the kimball tower and called my roommate jess to come pick me up (this was when you could still drive on campus). my ankle got so swollen and black and blue. so embarrassing.
- me and jess took the skiing class at byu our junior year. we were both beginners but got to be okay at it, we both went pretty fast at least and we had lots of fun. one day close to the end of the semester the snow was kind of icy, and i was going too fast as i came down the last hill next to the lift. i biffed it hard and tumbled like crazy, all the way to the bottom right in front of the lift. jess kept going, "em, get up, this is so embarrassing, get up!" and i'm like, "dude, i can't, i think i hurt my knee." she kept telling me to get up and i seriously couldn't, so finally our teacher helped me up and got me to the ski patrol. turns out i had torn my acl (even though jess told the rest of the class i was just being a wimp, thanks jess).
- in my last ward there was a girl named rachel ray. one of our enrichments was to make a cookbook, where everyone brought a recipe and 30 copies and then we all got one of each and put our book together. a few weeks after that i was visit teaching my friend sarah. later that day was playgroup and you had to bring a treat, so i was asking her what she was going to bring. she said she was going to make the salsa by rachel ray...and i go, "oh yeah, i was so excited to see that recipe in that cookbook, yum." meaning the enrichment book. so at playgroup i was standing by sarah when somebody asked her for the recipe and she goes "oh, it's in rachael ray's new cookbook, 30 minutes meals (or whatever), but you have to be careful when you say 'rachel ray'"....so why was i so excited to see a recipe that didn't exist in our little cookbook? ahhh, i still can't think about that without major embarrassment.
- my sophomore year of high school i got pulled up to varsity (cheerleading) right at the end of football season. i was cheering at my first varsity basketball game (to a humongous crowd) when amber craig, the head cheerleader suggested we do a stunt where she holds my feet and pops me up and holds me on her shoulders. i was so nervous, and when she popped me i kicked straight back instead of pushing up. i kicked her in the stomach and sent her flying onto the basketball court. i felt soo bad and her friends kept teasing her throughout the rest of the game. i felt so stupid.
- another cheerleading goof...at a football game once it was raining so the track was soaked and i went to do a kick and my standing foot came out from under me and i fell flat on my tush. i had a huge green bruise and it ripped my pantyhose, it was awful.
so, what's your most embarrassing moment?
update: andrea helped me remember my actual most embarrasing moment. in college we went to a dance at uvsc. a guy started break dancing so a circle formed around him and me and andrea ended up right at the front of the circle. the break dancer went to do a back-handspring but apparently the circle was too small, because as he flung himself back he kicked me in the crotch. all of the guys in the circle gave a collective "ohhh!" and the break-dancer stood up and asked if i was okay. it honestly didn't hurt that bad it was just so embarrassing. we laughed all night about it and me and andrea still die laughing when we think about that night.

Thanks for the laughs Emily.
I'm like you in the fact that I really can't think of a specific one, and in truth I have a horrible memory so I have probably just wiped my memory clean. One memory I do have is my junior year of HS I worked at Nautica at the outlets and this man came in, in a huge hurry and said his luggage was lost at the airport and he needed new clothes ASAP and asked if I could help him pick some out, so I helped pick out a few pairs of paints and sweaters etc. He then proceeded to try them on and the first and only thing he came out in was a sweater...yep that's all, no pants whatsoever! He asked me how he looked, I have no clue what I said and then he got dressed real quick and said he would be back in 2 sex....I swear to this day he said sex and not seconds.... and I never saw him again! Wierd!
Poor you. Almost all of your embarrassing moments involve real bruises instead of just a bruised ego. I have so many, but a while ago I posted about one of them here.
Ahh, embarrassing moments. Only one really stands out...
When I was in 8th grade, I was chosen to sing a solo in the school's choir-and so was the boy I had a crush on. When performance night came, I had major jitters. After I sang my part, I was supposed to give the microphone to this boy, instead I grabbed his hand and held on to it.... he then reached for the mic in my other hand and announced to the audience, "Can I please have my hand back?" I WAS MORTIFIED!!!
I have so many I can't keep track, but one of my most embarrassing was when I was maybe 10 or 11 or so. It was the day of the Primary Mother's Day program and I was asked to give a little talk about my mom. I of course started to cry, I inherited that trait, so when I was trying to make my way back to my seat my vision was a little blurred with tears and I missed a step and landed flat on my face. My skirt flipped up over my head and one of my shoes came off and flew so far it hit the opposite wall with a noisy thud. Half the ward came rushing up to make sure I was okay, but no one fixed my skirt! Finally my mom made it through the crowd and helped me out into the foyer. And of course people kept bringing it up all day, it was HORRIBLE!
I read your question and immediately started thinking about a time I fell down some stairs at BYU and then I started reading how you were at BYU and I was like, "NO WAY did she fall down the same stairs!" Well, we didn't fall down the same stairs, but sounds like we had a very similar experience. (:
I was walking or kinda running down the stairs to the RB and you know how sometimes your eyes freak out and you lose your footing? WEll, all of a sudden I remember falling forward, reaching out to grab the hand rail and some how I must have flipped in the air because the next thing I remember I was laying on my back head pointing DOWN the stairs wondering how the heck I got like that.
Of course, just like you there were a few people to ask if I was okay, and I was actually, just the most embarrassing moment of my life - thus far anyway. (:
Okay, one of my most embarrassing moments was with you Freshmen year. I remember you were flirting with that really blonde huge dude who would always hit you - can't remember his name but he was very Volcomy. I told you that I had claimed him, and you told me that I had claimed everyone. You were right :)
So the other story that I thought of was when we went to that UVSC dance and we were so "we're in college now". One of the few non-white guys there was break dancing and a circle had formed. He went to do some sort of back handspring and ended up kicking you to the ground - I really can't think of that moment without laughing out loud. Yep, I just snorted. Okay, now you can leave an embarrassing moment on my blog- sorry. It's just such a great story.
YOU GOT IT, ANDREA! I KNEW THERE WAS ONE THAT I COULDN'T REMEMBER! I'm DYING right now, cannot stop laughing. Dave just came in to see what the hullabaloo was about and he goes, "yep, that's pretty embarrassing." so this guy was doing those break-dance moves and actually kicked me in the crotch...all of the guys standing around went "ohhhhh" and the break-dancer i could tell felt really bad, it was HUMILIATING.
did i really say that to you? that sounds so mean and i'm SO SORRY. and what was the deal with that guy (was his name john)? why did i think it was okay for him to punch me as hard as he could? like we were in kindergarten or something.
Ok I totally remember the dance!! ha ha ha that was funny! I remember you falling skiing and me telling you to get up because I thought you were laughing and that you were embarassed! I was only trying to help you out. I totally don't remember saying that you were a wimp to the rest of the class. Sorry dude.
But here are some of my embarassing moments:
1. I fell in the crosswalk with Emily because my shoe broke and there were a bunch of cars sitting there watching!
2. I walked through the MTC wearing a button up dress that was actually unbuttoned from the top to about my stomach and I had no idea until the 2nd person stopped me telling me I was "undone." I was wearing a purse across my chest that apparently had undone the buttons.
3. Last year I was working at a school in different classrooms throughout the day. At one point I went to the bathroom. A couple of hours later I scratched my back and felt toilet paper sticking out of my pants. I had totally been walking around with it hanging out. How did it even get there first of all?!? Hopefully, it blended in with the white pants I was wearing that day.
I know I have many more but I think I will walk away with what little pride I have left now! (unless Andrea or Emily can think of any others that I don't remember?)
jess i was JUST thinking about you falling in that crosswalk and laughing like crazy when i was writing this post. sooo funny.
thanks for the laugh you made my night! by the way call me if you ever want to go out at night and you don't want to go it alone. trent is good about letting me get out!
Jess's #2 was so funny! I totally remember her little "show" at the MTC! All of my embarrassing moments have had something to do with my period. I'm not going to go into details but I've pretty much just wanted to die!
All those are hilarious! Glad they didn't happen to me!
