miracle on 7th street

isaac woke up this morning at 5:00 am (he had wet the bed). he never went back to sleep. neither did i. so the day started off not so great. he was a grouch, i was a grouch, and then noah woke up grouchy too. after posting this morning's post, i decided to blow dry my hair (a very rare occurance unless it's sunday or the pope is coming to visit). while i was blowdrying my hair i noticed the boys over by the computer but didn't think much of it--they are NOT allowed to touch it and they know that. then isaac's room was starting to smell funny and i didn't want another stinky car smell on my hands so i then pine-sol'd his entire bedroom (including lifting up his mattress and pine-sol-ing underneath it, under the playhouse, all the walls, everywhere). i then proceeded to wash 8 loads of laundry (isaac's bed wet thing was only the second time he's done that since he's been potty-trained!) so i had to do all the blankets and towels and sheets and mattress pad, you know how it goes. i then scrubbed carseats down (in case those are the stinky-car-smell culprits) and emptied the dishwasher. then i came in to check blogs. my keyboard was mysteriously upsidedown...and it wouldn't work. my computer came with this cool wireless mouse and keyboard, one of my favorite features of the whole computer...but the keyboard wasn't responding. i clicked the connect button. i restarted the computer. i turned it off for 15 minutes and tried again. i called hp and they were no help (although the man asked me to guess where he lived and i guessed right (india) and we had a very pleasant conversation on the differences in weather there and here). they're sending me a new one but i won't get it until thursday. well i have to work, and i HAVE to blog, so that wasn't going to cut it. here's the real problem: i couldn't even log in because i have my login password protected and without a keyboard, i can't enter my password. so here's the good part: i logged in under dave (no password) but we never use that so there were only three things on the dropdown menu: jcrew, blogger.com and foleysrgreat.blogspot.com (my family's OLD blog address). i knew there had to be a way to find my blog without typing anything, so i decided to do some sleuthing. i clicked on "blogs of note" under blogger and started perusing. i came across a crafty woman in new york and knew she had to know design mom. sure enough, design mom was a link on the side. i knew natalie's friend leslie guest-blogged on design mom a few weeks ago, so if only i could find those posts i knew i could find natalie's blog. sure enough, there was leslie and a link to her blog. and from leslie's blog there was natalie's....and from natalie's, YOU GUESSED IT, MY BLOG!! i felt like a major super-sleuth. i was able to check comments on my blogs and then read all the other blogs (without leaving comments of course) but i'm telling you it was a miracle on a very bad day. a miracle on 7th street, you might say. so this afternoon i went to staples and got a new keyboard (i can't make it 'til thursday, sadly, because i do have to work) but at least now we'll have a back-up in the event this happens again.

Pretty amazing Em. With a little practice you won't need a keyboard at all.
By the way, what did the keyboard cost. You know I was willing to run of our old one up to you.

It's amazing what happens when we're determined! I wonder what happened to the old keyboard? Is that your next mystery to solve?
