.... she is the funniest, most genuine, down-to-earth, amazing writer, apparently an even better chef, amazing photographer, cowgirl (that's right, i said cowgirl) ever to walk the face of the earth. i will forever be indebted to lynette for introducing us. this is a love affair that's not likely to end. have you heard about the pioneer woman? have you read her blogs? most likely you have, since on one of her posts last week she had nearly 3,000 comments (granted she was giving away a wii, but still). she was a regular person who met a man who owned a ranch (she calls him "marlboro man") and they have cows and horses and dogs and take care of wild mustangs and they are the real deal, man. real cowboys. i guess i didn't realize that there were still real ranchers who wore cowboy hats and everything...roping cattle, birthing calfs, and she's this totally normal, really cool person. and her love story is amazing (it's called "black heels to tractor wheels" and there are at least 30 "episodes" of it by now)--it actually reads like a romance novel without all the....well, you know. that probably has something to do with her incredible gift of writing, but also has something to do with the amazing person she is, and the rest of her family seems to be. she calls her kids "punks". it cracks me up! so if you haven't already, check out the pioneer woman. and if you're feeling really brave, check out the pioneer woman COOKS. her recipes make me laugh out loud (particularly this one, love the thought bubbles), and they all look SERIOUSLY amazing. i can't wait to try them. i also can't wait to copy her. i may have some recipe blogs coming your way, although my photography, kitchen, and recipes will be far less exciting than hers. so cheers, pioneer woman! let's drink to a long and happy blog-life together!13 February 2008

You are WELCOME!
I too, love the pioneer woman. I think I have gone through and read all of her old posts. She makes me smile and laugh and not be annoyed at her for how awesome she is! Pure bliss!
I love her also and spent way to much time reading everyone's most embarrassing moments to win that Wii. She just cracks me up! You should come visit us. We can take to a couple of those real ranches!
I noticed your link to her blog a week or so ago and read for a LONG time. Love her. Didn't hear about the wii give-away though. That Dave sure is nice!
never heard of her, if the wii giveaway had anything to do with embarrassing moments you should have told me about that! You know I can take the cake in that category
I hadn't heard of her until this post so of course I followed your link and ended up wasting all sorts of time and ticking off my kids reading her blog, love it! And her recipes look fabulous and funny! Thanks for sharing!
helen, since there were so many comments she ended up doing a random number generator to pick the winner, so the best story didn't even matter! but you're right, you would definitely win.
I LOVE her too! Haha! I'm actually trying some of her recipes for V-day tomorrow. I am totally stoked!
:)
So I think you should share here your most embarrassing moment, Ellen!
i don't know if she has just one, peggy, she's got LOTS.
where do you people find the time to read random blogs?
-gym
i MAKE the time gym, i don't have to find it.
I'm saving those gems for the day I have my own blog, a little something for you to look forward to
Diane should have heard of her from MY blog but whatever. :-D
I love love love this woman. That story of her and marlboro man is what I live for. She is awesome!
