i am in a BAD MOOD.

the day didn't start off great. isaac is still refusing to eat (going on his third week now) but that's nothing new, it always happens when he's sick. but noah woke up crying and just stopped about 13 minutes ago when i put him to bed before seven o'clock. the trouble with that kid is i still don't know what calms him down. with isaac there were things that always worked, but i have yet to figure out what to do for noah when he's mad. yeah he'll be 18 months in a few days...you'd think i'd have it figured out by now. but he's sick and he's not getting enough sleep or food and i understand, but after 4 hours of screaming, i had pretty much had it. so i decided to take the boys out because at least noah will be screaming in his carseat instead of in my ear. he actually calmed down while i got a carwash and went to the bank so i thought, "let's go to burger king!" isaac really wanted to go to the "spaceship playground" yesterday but we didn't so i thought i would take him today to be nice.

bad idea.

noah started screaming again before we'd even gotten out of the car, but i thought he was hungry and with some food he'd calm down. nope. nothing worked. then i look in the playplace and isaac is coming out of the slide screaming. i go to see what's wrong and he says his arm hurts. i figured he'd bonked it on the way down.
no.
a boy BIT HIM.
ON THE ARM.
THREE TIMES!

i went to lunch with some friends yesterday and isaac was fighting a little with another boy there and we were making fun of his mom because she's all, "is that boy so mean? is that boy hitting you?" when the kid was giving as good as he got. so i don't want to be one of those moms, i'm sure isaac provoked him in some way, but biting is not okay. he didn't break skin but broke blood vessels and you should see the bruises now. the teethmarks were there all day. i was furious. of course noah is still screaming but when isaac pointed the boy out i went and found his mom (she was waiting for food) and told her that her son needed to apologize. she said "oh, he's never done anything like this before!" yeah. three-year-olds just start biting on a whim all the time. whatever. the boy said sorry and ran off and the mom apologized to me but i was still so mad. i still am.

noah is still screaming.

i give up. it's time to go home. not one of us has had a bite to eat yet and we've been there for 25 minutes. so i tell isaac we're going and of course he freaks out and refuses to get shoes on. so i walk out. he won't come out because he doesn't have shoes on....and is screaming at me to put his shoes on, like i hadn't already tried. so the mommy monster makes an appearance (at burger king, awesome) and i drive home screaming at the top of my lungs that it's his fault, he should've just gotten his shoes on when i asked.

right. it's the three-year-old's fault. i'm totally insane.

we get home. noah goes in his bed. isaac goes on my lap as i apologize and try to make up for the freakish, horrible mother that i am. somehow he still loves me and we play a little. an hour later, noah is still screaming. he's hungry but refuses to eat. he's tired but refuses to sleep. i finally call to make a doctor appointment (and have to close and lock my bedroom door and then close the bathroom door just so i can hear the receptionist over the screams). noah has an ear infection. ooookay. just saw the doctor a few days ago and ears were fine. whatever. go to walgreens and push screaming noah around the store for an hour waiting for prescription (apparently they didn't know i was waiting and didn't get to it right away).

and to top it all off, there's a hole in my brand new pintuck tissue tee because my washing machine sucks. i would post a picture of it for you but noah lost my camera's battery (it was plugged in and charging a few days ago and now it's gone).

and i'm having a bad hair day.

Emily - What a day you had! I'm so sorry. I totally feel for you. Bad hair too? That is no good! I hope you get them both the bed and then I hope you get to sit on the couch, breath, and eat chocolate. That is the only cure sometimes. :) I hope tomorrow is better.

Don't you hate that when you're trying to be all ambitious and a nice mom to your kids by taking them out to some nice place for lunch or something, then they have a great way of thanking you by freaking out on your way out???? I HATE THAT!

This last week I was debating whether or not to take the kids to the library but I decided not to be so ambitious this week. I didn't think I could take anymore stress. (:

Oh man, I SO hate days like that. Luckily James usually behaves himself, but Beth definitely has days like that when I'm trying to be fun. Ugh. Sorry! I'm glad lost helped you feel better! :) I am very grateful for TV too.

I love the honesty here, too. Some blogs have nothing but "perfectness" and we all know that's not so, so why portray just that? Bleh.

Emily, so sorry you had such a rotten day. If you lived closer, I'd take you out for a girls' night out to this cute coffeehouse in town that has an old-fashioned movie theater attached and drink yummy Mayan (or is it Aztec?) spiced cocoa in a cool, college town ambience.
