happy valentine's day!

valentine's day is a very happy day (as long as you are married, otherwise it's just stressful).

i used to hate valentine's day. once in high school i got called to the office on valentine's day and there was a bouquet of flowers from a "secret admirer". she's never 'fessed up but i'm positive they were from my mom. it was nice to get flowers, but it would've been nicer if they were from a boy. now i like valentine's day.

i love these....
and these...
and especially these:
this morning i left this right in front of the door for dave (isaac made the valentine in preschool yesterday). i put it directly in front of the door...

inside was this. have you ever seen a bigger cinnamon roll?

and when i woke up i found this:
he actually had to pick it up and move it so he could get out, and still somehow didn't notice it. hilarious! (in his defense, he does leave while it's still dark and doesn't usually turn the lights on. plus we have lots of trash sitting by the front door right now (shipping boxes mostly) so it's really not his fault. i did intend to take it out to his car and put it on the seat but it snowed again and i couldn't bear to take it all the way out there this morning. some wife i am).

there are lots of things that i love about dave. here are a few: he's selfless. he works all day then comes home and takes care of the boys all night so i can work, or goes to presidency meetings, or goes home teaching, and i really admire how hard he works at everything he does. he's an excellent writer (as evidenced by his multiple guest blogs). he is getting to be really good at driving in snow, something that california boy has hated since the day i met him. he puts up with my moods and my compulsive shopping and all of my other crazy attributes. he listens when i talk to him about the blogs i read. he watches gilmore girls with me. he suggests we go out to dinner on days when he knows i don't want to cook. he is very good at math, something that's always been elusive to me. he feeds noah at dinner. he does baths every night without complaining. he eats leftovers for lunch so i don't have to (because i wouldn't, i would just throw them away). he can instantly tell you where you've seen an actor or actress previously (you know when you're like, "oh, where have i seen her before?" he knows instantly. it's crazy!), or else can recognize a movie, any movie, even the crappy ones they show on kjzz, before the title comes up. he has lime green basketball shorts, which caused my brother-in-law jared to institute the name "hot pants" before he knew him (sadly it didn't stick after they met). he's the best. he really truly is the best. i love him!

happy valentine's day!

Sorry Em. I thought it was just one of the other boxes by the door that I've neglected to take out.

I was laughing about how Dave can recognize all kinds of actors and movies because it's SO TRUE! I've seen him do that with even the most obscure actor ever - he must have a good memory. Anyway, happy Valentine's to you!

I'm CONSTANTLY, and by that I mean just about every day, using the "dave does baths every night WITHOUT COMPLAINING" on jared. Good man

Mark is SO GOOD at the obscure actress/actor/movie trivia thing, too! We often stop movies and check on IMDB and sure enough, he's right! He also does that with voices on kids' movies--he hears like one word and he's all, "Oh, that's Matthew Broderick" or whatever. He's AWESOME at that. And Mark does baths, too. I so appreciate that as well. Good men we've married! :)

lex, maybe if you were still in logan, but NEW YORK? i highly doubt it. YOU come visit ME! :)

sara, by the way, i think he's got a photographic memory. not 100%, but some at least. i asked him where a scripture was the other day and he couldn't remember the exact location but he goes, "it's on the lower left-hand corner of the page, either alma 23 or 24" or something like that, and he was right. it's weird.

jess, you never heard jared call him hot-pants? funny.

Lex, we're in PA so she can visit us AND you. I say she visits. ;)

Seriously, is it in the genes? Are Doug, Greg, and Scott like that, too?
