it's snowing today. BIG time snowing. the roads are snowpacked and icy. luckily dave doesn't have to work today. sadly, we had to take his car to the shop because the brake light won't turn off and we have to do safety/emissions this month. even worse, the shop is on riverdale road...the busiest and worst road in the history of man. so we head out. 700 south isn't plowed. state street isn't plowed. I-15 ISN'T PLOWED. and, of course, riverdale road isn't plowed either, not even over the big bridge, and bridges are usually what ices over first. WHAT IS THE DEAL WITH SNOW REMOVAL HERE? in draper, the residential streets are plowed by 6 am and the rest of the roads were done way before that. the plows run all day to makes sure the roads are completely clear. on our way home we stopped at the grocery store. the parking lot was plowed but snowpacked, but i-15 is still a mess, as is state street. what's the deal? it seems to snow a lot more here than in salt lake county, why is slc so much better about plowing? it makes me crazy.

I'm sorry to hear about your crazy snow day, but it brought back a funny memory. Ammon and I had interviews to renew our temple recommends and we needed to go to the Stake Center (the one up State Street near UVSC). It had been snowing like crazy all day long and State St. had not been plowed. We were driving slowly and doing just fine until the car in front of us stopped for some reason. When we tried going again we started to slide backwards! Ammon jumped out and tried pushing the car (I know, moronic) but our wheels were just spinning. Finally, I had the idea to drive sideways until we caught some traction and the car started moving forward again. Ammon was running alongside the car, trying to jump in and he finally made it, but he was soaked head to toe in dirty, wet snow for our interviews. It was hilarious!
It is such a yucky day today! Even in Salt Lake valley I have to say. Ryan left for work this morning and after 30 minutes and making it one stop light down Bangerter and sliding off the road twice, he decided to turn around and head back home...yuck...and yet I have to make it to the grocery store at some point today, ugh!!!
Yikes...you're making me scared about coming up there and driving! I am so scared to drive in the snow! I luckily made it all of my 3 weeks in CO not driving when there was snow out! I have great in laws and then Thomas got back in town.
We had deep snow this morning. Abaout 18inches in our driveway. They had the street plowed by about 8 am, but it was still snowing so they had to plow a few more times. It's not dry. Delos & Misty's house had about 2 feet. It took us a while to get their and their neighbor's driveway and sidewalks cleared. (Used my new "free" snowblower. It worked great even though the snow was deeper than the blower is tall. Misty's street had not been plowed. I was pushing snow with my bumper.
Dad
It was suppose to say, the street is now clear and dry.
well they finally plowed i-15 and riverdale was a little better when we went to pick it up, but not much. it's crazy!
lynette, i'm DYING about your story, so funny!
all the money is in draper! that's why it gets plowed!
again this is why I live in Phoenix!!
I don't understand this either. We had to head out to Kaysville early this morning for Carsen's 2 month check-up... I-15 was a MESS! We just from our exit to the Kaysville exit we say 4 accidents... with one of those being a car that had flipped over! Oh man, I was not very happy. We didn't see the snow plows come around until after noon. UGH!
