friends

it's been a long time since I've had friends that I actually hang out with. I have several roommates and friends from college that live in Utah but we rarely get together--one of those rare times was with andrea not too long ago, and it was so fun. why don't we do that more often? probably the distance i suppose, coupled with the fact that i'm lazy. in our last ward we were living in my parents basement in a pretty affluent area and never seemed to quite fit in. I had friends, but never went out with them...unless primary presidency meetings count. since moving here I have made several new friends--emilie, alison, tori, (and a few others)--and it is so nice to have someone to call and just go to the mall with so the kids can play, or to have someone to sit by in relief society (before i was called into primary). a few days before christmas emilie came over to bring me a cd she burned for me and we ended up talking for more than an hour. she's so funny and talented and so much fun. alison was the first person i ever really hung out with (her house burned down the first time we went out together) and she calls all the time to go do things. she knows people everywhere we go because she is so friendly. i love that i can say hi to people in the halls at church, or do favors for people (and they do favors for me!)...i just really appreciate the fact that i have friends that i can go and do things with. it's been too long since i've had girlfriends and i've missed it.
