and now, for the grand unveiling....

Tada!

In case you were wondering why my blog has been "private" all day (and I know you were, I got 19 emails about it)...this is why! My new blog header! I'm soooo excited!

What do you think? My friend Lynette has been working for days and after lots of work and headache, she's done. (thanks Lynette, I owe you one...or ten).

So let's learn a bit about the evolution of my blog.

A few years ago my friend Lynette emailed me with a link to her "blog" and encouraged me to leave comments. Hmmm...what's a blog? I know it stands for "web log" but isn't it for political people and professional writers? I check out her blog. Apparently not. It's for regular people too. And it's awesome and funny and amazing and the addiction begins.

Not too long after that, my sister-in-law Stacy set up a blog for Dave's side of the family. It's a way for us to keep in touch better than we had been doing in the past. It works. It's fun. The addiction grows.

November 2006 I decide to start a family blog for my side of the family but it doesn't really catch on. Ellen is the only one who signs up in my family and I never posted (I couldn't really figure it out...).

March 2007 I try again. It starts catching on. My sister-in-law Holly is inspired by the family blog (and her friend Natalie more, probably) to start her own. By this time, the addiction has spiraled out of control and I start posting daily about my life on the family blog. I start to feel weird. The people who are reading the family blog probably don't care so much what I think about pop-tarts or whatever other nonsense I was writing about. More of my friends start blogging

So on September 17, 2007 I created "something". I wanted to have an amazing and cute blog like Natalie and Lynette and all the other amazing blogs I read, but couldn't think of anything fun or creative. So I called it "something" for the time being...with a subheader that said "i'm not sure what yet". I wanted to make a great header and have the cutest template. Lynette emailed me extremely detailed instructions on how exactly to make it cute, but I couldn't think of anything clever or creative and I tried for MONTHS to make my blog cute. In the end, I decided to stick with "something" because it was easy to make it all fit...something funny, something cute, something yummy...but I still couldn't get the header right. I gave up last week and asked Lynette to make one. She has made lots of these for her sisters and who knows who else, and she's really good at it and I knew she would make something cute. After several days of headaches (for her) and apologies (from me), she came up with something amazing! I'm so impressed with what she's done and I have to say, I love it. It really fits "something" well. I love polka dots. She did not know this about me, but I'll prove it. Here are a few of my favorite things that are polka dots:

1) my Braves jammies that Dave brought me from his business trip to Atlanta.

2) My navy polka dot skirt from J.Crew...quite possibly my favorite skirt of all time.

3) Last but not least, my polka dot wedding cake. Have you ever seen a cuter wedding cake? I know it's not fancy but it fit our backyard outdoor summer reception perfectly. I'm still in love with it (and wish I could have some more, it was DELISH).

So there's the proof: I love polka dots. I love Lynette. And I hope you love something.
