thankful

I love this time of year. It stems from my childhood. My oldest sister went to BYU when I was 5, so I've always associated November and Thanksgiving with family reunions. I loved coming home from school the Wednesday before Thanksgiving and seeing Alice's car in the driveway--a sweet red hoopdy (is that how you spell it?). And my grandparents always came, or at least it seemed like it, driving in their big red Cadillac. As I got older and everybody else went to BYU, it got even better--having Delos, Sara, Ellen, and James come home for Thanksgiving made it all the more exciting--Alice was married and lived just a few miles away. Grandpa always cut the turkey, and usually was doing something else too--installing a storm door on the deck, cutting down our giant tree in the front yard and knocking over the street light in the process...and then I went to BYU and since I was there by myself (and I'm the youngest) my dad bought me a plane ticket to come home for Thanksgiving and be with everyone and have the yummiest food ever and play games and play with nieces and nephews...it's a very happy time for me. Not to mention I love my Thanksgiving decorations. I have good ones. So, in honor of this happy time, I'm going to be thankful. I'm having real trouble with grouchiness lately. If I didn't know better, I'd think I was pregnant (I'm NOT). So, I'm going to be thankful in honor of November. Happy Thanksgiving everyone. Be thankful!

I was going to post on this same subject. Will I be a copy-cat if I still do?

P.S. I love Thanksgiving too!

That made me feel all warm and fuzzy. It reminded me of the many times you told me about how wonderful it was on Saturdays to get into your bed with clean sheets that your mom had just washed. Oh, the memories...

this was the coolest post ever (or at least one of them). i love this time of year too. I used to love coming home from the BYU for thanksgiving. forget about school for a few days and just eat myself silly. i remember all the same stuff about the older sibling coming home while we were still in abq. what fun that was! thanks for the coolio reminder.

Makes me miss the good ol' days. Seems like life was simpler or easier then although I'm sure it wasn't. Great post - it really captured our younger Thanksforgivings. I also think about the years when the Davidsons would come over and the boys would play football outside and watch a game or two on TV. Makes me want mom's dinner and especially some PIE!
