the little things

I have discovered that it's the little things that make me love my house. There are lots of little things that I love about my house. There are things that I hate, too, but in keeping with my thankful theme for November, I'm not mentioning those right now--but I'm sure I will later. So, withour further ado, here are the little things:

Noah's room is sailboats, so this curtain rod really complements the room. It's a little fancy but sooo pretty and really helps complete the sailboat theme. I love it.

Also in Noah's room, we put these shelves above his crib. My friend Jolene made the "Noah" sign for me when Noah was born--there's one in Isaac's room too. The frame on the bottom says "Brothers" but I haven't put a picture in it yet. I still need to find a good one. And on the left is a cross-stitch that I bought at Swiss Days this summer that says "Moroni. A real hero gives more than is expected." I love this part of Noah's wall. I love Noah's room in general--it's my favorite room in the house.

The next thing I love is my coat closet. We put shoe racks in there, so that there is a convenient place to keep shoes and we don't have to wear them on the carpet. I hung hooks over the door so I have a place to hang my purses and diaper bags. We also keep our vacuum there because there's really nowhere else to put it, and as it gets colder we'll get coats out of storage and hang them up too. I love this closet (Noah does too...he's always trying to get the vacuum!)

We don't have a ton of space here, so the washer and dryer are stacked in a closet in the kitchen. I hate stacked washer and dryers, but I especially hated this one because the spring on the washer was broken so I had to hold it up with one hand while pouring detergent and adding the clothes with the other. A huge time waster. So, being the genius that I am, I found these magnets at Target and now I just hook them together! It works great and makes me much happier about doing laundry.

This may not seem like a big deal to most of you, but I've never had a microwave above the stove and I love the counter space it saves!

This is Isaac's room. My mom got these train decals for me that peel and stick so you can move them around and take them with you when you move. Isaac's room doesn't match at all, mostly because of his oddly colored bed, but I think these trains make his room so cute. There's some on the other wall too but Isaac has peeled off several of the wheels and it's not as cute as these that he can't reach (he was very surprised at the wrath that came from me after he did this...but these were expensive and he ruined the wheels. He doesn't touch them now).

Here is another Swiss Days' find: It says "Dare to be a Daniel, Dare to stand alone, Dare to have a purpose, Dare to make it known." I love it, and every time I go in his room and read it I feel braver. Dumb I know, but I love it.

Finally, I love the bathrooms. I simply love the fact that the boys have their own bathroom so we don't have to clean the bathtub every night before baths, and we can leave bath toys in the tub if we want. Love it.

And here is the master bathroom, which I also love. It has two sinks (love love love the two sinks). There's lots of space for getting ready, plenty of storage space in the tall pantry-ish door, and our closet is right behind--sliding mirror doors. So those are the little things that seem to make a difference. Do you have little things you love too?

I swear there have been times when you have posted more than once a day. Maybe it was just me letting days go by at a time. . .

Anyway, I'm really jealous of the two sinks and all the counter space. I'll have to seriously do an "open house" one of these days. (:
